iZotope and BT Release BreakTweaker™

The NAMM Show, Anaheim, CA (January 23, 2014) - iZotope, Inc., a leading audio technology company, and GRAMMY®-nominated composer and technologist, BT, have combined creative forces to bring you a drum sculpting and beat sequencing environment that blurs the line between rhythm and melody.
“We are a company that loves to make innovative products, taking the best of the past and forging into the future. We were able to collaborate with BT’s forward-thinking vision on BreakTweaker, and we’re proud to offer something incredibly unique and brand-new to the world of drum machines,” says iZotope Product Manager, Jack Cote.

aww i was hoping this would be a Geist killer. Can you load your own drum
samples? Are there included patterns etc?

  6. Stephen Johnston says:

Crazy! Looks interesting, but I wonder if it would end up unused with me
    just like the stutter edit.

  7. Tobias Lutzenkirchen says:

Checked the demo. No swing or groove settings. Why?

  8. Avene says:

Impressive.. I wasn’t expecting the synth generator or modulation parts.
Will definitely have to give this a try.

  9. Pogo says:

If you can’t make music, make noise.

  10. Alejandro Suazo says:

the noise and dirt music generation… if you don’t have creativity,
    destroy your tracks…

  11. SquareWaveHeaven says:

I can see this being useful. But if you have your own overarching sound
design vision, you’ll probably be able to use the tools you already have to
get these results. Might take you a bit longer but (a) it’ll be YOUR vision
and not BT’s (no disrespect to the guy, he’s an amazing producer) and (b)
you’ll have a longer journey getting to your destination, which means
you’ll learn more, have more happy accidents, and you’ll be able to hold
your own making generic tools work together. Still going to check this out
though, because the GUI is my favourite shade of blue

  12. Alexander Posukhov says:

reminds me NI interfaces from 2003

  13. Shokstar says:

Maybe you guys can port it over to Reason7 as a RE That would be really
    cool

  14. Shokstar says:

Can I use it as a standalone Synth?

  15. Ramteen says:

nice plugin, but boy was that UI ugly :-S

  16. cmart00 says:

tweaker is an apt description for the target market of this demo, can we
hear it doing anything vaguely musical?

  17. mixman29 says:

I’m pretty sure you can do this with native instruments reaktor.

  18. Spacerboy says:

make is as a hardware…and i will buy it

  19. Ed Hennessey says:

Add movement to your drums with this new instrument from iZotope and BT.

  22. Dani Mizuta says:

im going to wait some more reviews about this new plugin, cuz Stutter Edit
    was a bit disappointing…

  23. Yuset Pozo says:

Throw some vocals in there and that should be fun

  24. danny phillips says:

now we can all sound like a stuttering squeaky door opening……..basically
stutter in sequencer form?……personally i would have liked to see maybe a
straight line tool in iris?a way to maybe synch and time stretch selections
in iris with midi?a copy and paste to a grid in iris?a decent layering drum
sequence module in iris?nope we get the squeaky door sequencer effect
backed by a guy that looks like he should be in a vidal sasoon shampoo
    advert…

  25. gaiforks says:

    horrible

  26. Jayjae Martinez says:

    sweet, i like

  27. vboy13 says:

push a button and presto-INSTANT squarepusher, aphex twin and venetian
    snares!
WOW MOM LOOK NO HANDS/TALENT needed
    !!!
can we get an automatic dubstep drop maker next?
nothing will replace step sequencing, hard work and creativity…EVER
this plug in is for lazy cunts

  28. Jamison Stone says:

    Does BT use this…?

  29. illtripbeats says:

the isorhytmic is interesting.. but ugh dubstep

  30. Jeff Slarve says:

After playing around with this a while, I have come to the conclusion that
this is a really really cool tool, and I’m glad I bought the “expanded”
version. Lots of great sounds to work with, plus you can use your own
samples. Now that I’ve used this Microedit, I wish Izotope Iris had similar
motif for drawing within the Iris editor. That would be a great upgrade to
    an already great tool.

  31. Soundboyfl fl says:

Please do this kind of apps for ipad!!! Or stutter fx.

  32. Donald Avera says:

  35. RockstahRolln says:

The UI is enough to scare anyone away… iZoptope, you guys need to work on
    the UI !

  36. milhouse777 says:

    No thanks

  37. Flo Bout says:

very nice! ..But i don’t see any ”swing” options… and is it possible to
play the pitches/notes with midi? if these 2 thing are there i will get
    this 4 sure..

  38. Chase Bankx says:

I can’t wait to find the time to teach myself how to use it…

  39. PhotonTracking says:

Dubstep…Blaaahhhhh. But this thing got potential.

  40. gitarrstrimlaren says:

Why, why, why are there no swing options? It’s awesome except for that…
makes its uses very limited unfortunately. Please add this in the next
    update.

  41. Viraj Alankar says:

If you spend hours/days on trying to make a sound, there is probably a
plugin that let’s anyone do it in a second. It’s hard to find real
creativity in electronic music these days.

  42. alessandro0481 says:

“If you can’t make music, make noise.” No dear friend, you make ART of
    noise!

  43. KingRalf says:

    Kraftwerk in a can…

  44. Sean Trauth says:

Everything has an application I’m down for a trial period

  45. h3kt0 says:

Tried it and didn’t like it. WAY too complicated to get something cool out
of it. UI is just a mess. I understand the need of iZotope to make an
interesting tool for doing that kind of creative stuff but there is nothing
easy to do with this. You will need hours of learning before you can get
anything decent out of this plugin.

  46. Caiden Attwater says:

Great video. I work as a music producer. After extensive research I finally
found the #1 software for music production for 2014. visit my channel to
find a link I have posted for this software

  47. Ne3kerinNussima says:

Thease micro system things that have only one button to push and there u
have music, thats full of shit in my opinion. certantly destroys creativity
and leaves no place for experimental shiet

  48. koelewijn555 says:

Great for innovative artists like Katie Perry

  49. Davis Starr says:

Amazing video! Sorry for posting this here but it is very difficult for a
new musician to build an audience on youtube . This is not spam. let me
share my story with you. I work as a DJ. After losing my time with
problematic programs I finally found what seems to be the best DAW ever.
please visit my channel and find the link I posted for this software

  50. Marc Stanley says:

All’s I hear is noise. Can you load your own quality sounds to be edited
    with this?

  51. darren irwin says:

doesn’t seem very musical or realistic but that’s not necessarily a bad
    thing

  52. Donald Avera says:

Aw shucks….not so much knocking the technology so much as the widespread
aping of a genre…nevermind the tidy lil’ package offered that makes the
aping even easier. I’ve said the same thing about Jungle, Drum n’ Bass,
    Trance…and I’m totally dating myself here….Grunge, Hair Metal/Butt
Rock, Classic Rock, etc…If I never walk into a music store again and hear
a 13 year old kid playing Sweet Child O’Mine again, it would be too soon

  54. Glenn Rigby says:

Great video. I though I would share a small tip for all aspiring musicians:
I work as a DJ. After extensive research I finally found what seems to be
the #1 beat making program ever created. You can find a link to this music
production program on my channel. check it out.
